About this file

This is a Department of Defense product specification for the ARTC (All Range Tactical Clothing) lightweight baselayer shirt (L2), product code AR-ETP-25-116, for the U.S. Army. The specification establishes comprehensive requirements for manufacturing unisex long-sleeve shirts designed for cold weather combat operations, available in sizes ranging from X Small to XX Large.

The shirt construction must utilize flame-resistant jersey knit fabric (AR-MTP-25-215) with flat seam construction. Key construction specifications include flatlock seams (stitch type 607 FSa-1) for sides, armholes, sleeves, collar, and shoulders at 14-16 stitches per inch; double needle coverstitching (stitch type 406 EFa-2) for bottom and sleeve hems with 3/4-inch turns overlapping 1 inch and secured with 1/4-inch vertical backstitches; and 1/4-inch neckband width. Components include meta-aramid spun staple thread in Coyote color (AR-CTP-24-134) and labels comprising a heat transfer size label positioned 3/4 inches down from the back neck raw edge on the inside center back, and care instruction labels positioned 2 inches from the bottom hem side seam in 8-point font with a QR code. The specification mandates conformance to finished dimensions defined in the Table of Finished Measurements with specific tolerances for neck width, sleeve length, chest width, and other critical measurements across all size grades. End item testing requirements include dimensional stability after 50 home laundering cycles (maximum 10% change in wales, 5% in course), toxicity compliance per 40 CFR regulations, and visual shade matching to standard samples using AATCC EP9 evaluation procedures under specified lighting conditions. The specification identifies 37 potential defects classified as major or minor, with detailed inspection methods utilizing ASQ/ANSI Z1.4 sampling and Acceptance Quality Limits as specified in the contract.
