the rear and/or top of the equipment racks. No obstructions of the ventilation areas of equipment racks and stand-alone equipment are allowed. Once rack locations are determined, care must be taken to verify that there are provisions for overhead cable routing.
4.1.4 Lighting
Avoid lighting directly above operator consoles. The result of such lighting could flood operator monitor viewing and make viewing difficult.
4.1.5 Static
A carpeted floor is not desired or recommend, but if carpet is used the end user will be required to provide anti-static provisions, especially in areas where processors and disks are located. Maintaining recommended optimum temperature and humidity ranges helps to reduce static buildup. All major equipment racks will be connected to an earth grounding grid, thus providing the end user wearing an ESD wrist strap with proper protection from static discharge when handling static sensitive devices.
4.1.6 Equipment Access
Access for equipment maintenance or removal is recommended to be approximately 36 inches of space to the front and to the rear of each equipment rack.
4.2 Power Requirements
Tables 4.2-1 & 4.2-2 specify the requirements in regards to the range of facility circuit breakers that provide acceptable wire protection for each system at the OL15 facility. These tables reflect the data for quantity one of each system. The end user is responsible for acquiring the exact amount of circuit breakers specified in the tables and providing the appropriate personnel responsible for the installation of the circuit breakers. If the local unit is unable to procure circuit breakers prior to the modification team arrival, it should notify the 645th AESS sixty days prior to the arrival of the modification team.
For the tables, the “Estimated Load” column represents the calculated total electrical load.
The “Estimated Load” column is re-identified as the “Measured Load” column whenever load testing results are available. The “Suggested Bkr Size” column represents a circuit breaker rating determined by Engineering that coincides with the manufactur rating of the connected power distribution unit. The “Installed Bkr Size” column provides a location to record the circuit breakers physically installed at the OL15 facility once they are known.

4.2.1 Grounding
Grounding connection to Earth ground is the end user’s responsibility. The impedance between the grounding grid and the earth ground should be 0.1 Ω or less. All equipment racks will be grounded by the installation team and are required to be connected to an earth grounding grid within the facility, taking care not to introduce ground loops. All equipment racks have a ground post (1/4 x 2.0 inch / 6.4mm x 50.8mm) located on the lower rear of the rack for this purpose. The 645th AESS installation team will verify that the grounding resistance measured between the equipment rack and the grounding grid meets the requirements laid out for each rack in the relevant 17.01 Pre-Installation Test Procedure. The use of a ground impedance tester or bonding meter is vital to obtaining accurate impedances.
5.0 MODIFICATION INSTALLATION SUPPORT REQUIREMENTS
On-location actions identified in this document include the installation of all systems and support equipment. To reach a full operational status as quickly as possible and to facilitate installation of the system in a timely manner, the end user should be prepared to meet the support requirements outlined in this section. If any support requirements cannot be met, notify the 645th AESS sixty days prior to the arrival of the modification team so contingency plans can be made.
5.1 Site Preparation
Actions taken by the end user can significantly reduce the operational impact of installation of the modifications. These actions primarily involve preparation to support installation activities.
5.1.1 Facility Support
Since the actions required in this installation require technical skills not normally required for maintaining equipment at off-plant sites, these skills are provided by a special installation team, assisted as much as possible by permanently assigned contractor field services and end user personnel.
