About this file
This document provides notice of the Army's intent to award a ten-year requirements contract to Caterpillar Inc. for service life extension program work on various earthmoving equipment. Key details include that Caterpillar will perform SLEP to return approximately 240 government-furnished vibratory rollers, high speed compactors, dual steel wheel rollers, dozers, graders, loaders, scrapers, and a water distributor to a like-new condition. The SLEP effort consists of common core tasks performed on each vehicle and additional unique repair work. The contract also provides for technology insertion with electric-hydraulic conversions of dozer models, blade-leveling modifications, and application of emerging maintenance work orders and engineering changes. Annual warehousing costs for kitting parts are included. The proposed sole-source award to Caterpillar is justified as they are the original equipment manufacturer and only source able to perform the work without delay to the government. The point of contact is provided for questions.
