1.2.4. The Contractor shall provide comprehensive operator and maintenance training to 25 designated Government personnel. This training will cover alarm response, daily temperature documentation, water culture testing, and emergency shutdown response. The Contractor will also provide a technical support contact for troubleshooting.

2. Salient Characteristics.

2.1. Salient Characteristics of filtration system shall adhere to the following:

• Water Filtration Systems that will produce Type I / Clinical Lab Reagent Water (CLRW) / ultra-pure water

• Must be able to produce water that meets the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM)

ASTM D1193-06

• Installation procedures must follow National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)

1.3.1. Definition: Type I water is usually produced by a multi-stage purification process involving pre-treatment, reverse osmosis, deionization, ultraviolet (UV) sterilization, and sometimes ultrafiltration. It's important to note that Type I water is highly reactive and can quickly absorb impurities from the environment, including CO2 from the air. Therefore, it should be used immediately after purification and stored carefully to maintain its purity.

1.3.2: Type I laboratory grade water, also known as ultrapure water, is the purest form of water available for laboratory use. It's characterized by its extremely low levels of impurities, including:

• Inorganic ions: Minerals, salts, and dissolved gases like carbon dioxide are minimized. This is crucial for sensitive analytical techniques like atomic absorption spectroscopy, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and mass spectrometry.

• Organic compounds: Organic molecules from natural sources or contamination are removed.

This is important for applications like cell culture and molecular biology.

• Microorganisms: Bacteria, fungi, and other microorganisms are eliminated. This is essential for biological experiments and preparing sterile solutions.

• Particulates: Suspended particles are filtered out, ensuring clarity and preventing interference in optical measurements.

• Pyrogens/Endotoxins: These fever-inducing substances are removed, which is critical for medical and pharmaceutical applications.

• Resistivity: Close to the theoretical maximum of 18.2 MΩ·cm at 25°C, indicating minimal ionic content.

• Total Organic Carbon (TOC): Typically, below 10 ppb (parts per billion), reflecting low organic contamination.

• Bacterial count: Very low or undetectable levels of bacteria.
