About this file
This document is Appendix E, a Semi-Annual and Annual Inspections Checklist for elevator maintenance and safety compliance. The checklist comprises 44 detailed inspection items that must be performed during semi-annual and annual maintenance cycles to ensure elevator systems operate safely and in compliance with applicable regulations.
The inspection requirements cover comprehensive mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system evaluations. Key areas include: guide track cleaning and lubrication; electrical winding insulation verification; cable inspection; door mechanism functionality; control panel component checks (contactors, switches, transformers, brake assemblies, motor units); cabin interior conditions (lining, doors, mirrors, control panels, photocells); hoist way and landing door equipment; machine room power lines and systems; traction rope and chain integrity; safety gear and speed limiter verification; and flexible hose inspection. The checklist also mandates checks of the automatic return-to-floor device, overtravel operation, shut-off valve functionality, Amendment A3 device operation, and electromechanical equipment throughout the hoist way. Results must be recorded in a maintenance logbook with email notification of inspection dates and technician identification. The comprehensive nature of these checks ensures elevator safety systems, accident-prevention devices, and all mechanical and electrical components maintain operational integrity and regulatory compliance.
