About this file

This is an appendix containing a monthly inspections checklist for elevator maintenance and safety compliance. The checklist comprises 22 comprehensive inspection items that must be performed on a monthly basis to ensure proper operation and safety of elevator systems.

The checklist covers lubrication and mechanical integrity (gears, bearings, ropes, and brake components); electrical systems (contactors, relays, switches, transformers, lighting, and power lines); communication and safety systems (two-way communication, alarm systems, emergency telephones, and return-to-floor devices); cabin components (doors, handles, hinges, floors, mirrors, control panels, and safety gear); hoistway and landing equipment (power lines, lighting, door mechanisms, locks, and interlocks); hydraulic and electromechanical devices (solenoid valves, thermostats, pumps, pressure gauges, and oil levels); control panel components (motor protectors, differential switchers, brake assemblies, and speed regulators); and regulatory compliance documentation (display plates with elevator system data, maintenance technician contact information, and emergency warning signs). The checklist is designed to be a standardized performance work requirement for elevator maintenance service providers and ensures systematic verification of all critical safety and operational systems.
