About this file
This is Amendment 1 to Request for Bid #645-1746-2025 issued by the Iowa Department of Transportation for the Davenport Tile Boring Replacement project. The amendment adds a prerequisite requirement that each contractor holding a valid contract with Iowa DOT must furnish and pay for builder's risk insurance covering fire, extended coverage, vandalism, and malicious damage to materials incorporated in the project or purchased for incorporation, whether stored on or off the permanent job site. The insurance requirement applies to all materials prior to project completion and acceptance. Contractors must also ensure all subcontractors meet the same insurance requirements.
Failure to comply with the builder's risk insurance requirement constitutes sufficient cause for Iowa DOT to suspend work, withhold payment estimates, deny the contractor any further contract awards, and pursue remedies as outlined in the applicable contract articles. This amendment establishes a mandatory insurance prerequisite that contractors must satisfy to maintain contract eligibility and avoid administrative penalties, work suspension, and future procurement disqualification.
