About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the fabrication and delivery of Beam Position Monitor (BPM) jumper cable bracket assemblies for the Advanced Light Source Upgrade (ALS-U) project at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL).

The supplier shall fabricate 15 different bracket assembly components strictly in accordance with LBNL-provided drawings and CAD models, with all hardware built to print. Deliverables are organized in two batches: a first article phase followed by final production. First article quantities range from 0 to 17 units per part number, with final production quantities ranging from 3 to 190 units. All first article units must be delivered within 8 weeks from authorization to release and approved in writing by LBNL Technical and Quality Assurance representatives before production commences. Production quantities may be adjusted based on first article evaluation results. A 12-week hold period is expected after first article delivery to allow LBNL to perform installation and inspection. All production units must undergo 100% testing per Section 6.3. The supplier shall inspect a 20% sample of products in accordance with drawing requirements, verifying labels, dimensions, tap hole specifications, and material certifications. Standard packaging is acceptable provided assemblies are protected from physical damage and connector crushing during transit. The supplier must complete the ALS-U Supplier Quality Evaluation Survey, maintain an effective QA program, and submit deviation requests and nonconformance reports within three business days of identification. LBNL will use an Acceptance Checklist (AL-1844-5021) to evaluate and accept all deliverables. Regular communication via email and phone is required, though formal progress reports are not mandated.

1 INTRODUCTION

1.1 Project Overview

ALS-U is an upgrade project to the LBNL Advanced Light Source (ALS). The ALS will be upgraded with a Multibend Achromat (MBA) lattice design to provide a soft x-ray source with orders of magnitude increase in brightness and coherence.

Beam Position Monitor (BPM) jumper cables are critical components for the upgraded

Storage Ring (SR). They are essential for transmitting high-frequency signals from BPM pickups with minimal loss and distortion, ensuring accurate beam position measurement. The cable brackets are required to mount and protect BPM jumper cables.

1.2 Description

This Statement of Work (SOW) defines the requirements for the fabrication and delivery of BPM jumper cable bracket assembly for SR BPM jumper cables. The supplier shall fabricate the associated hardware strictly in accordance with the drawings, models, and specifications provided by LBNL.

1.3 Roles and Responsibilities

• University Procurement Representative: See subcontract for details.

• University Technical Representative: See subcontract for details.

• Supplier Project Manager: The selected subcontractor shall identify a single point of contact to interface directly with the LBNL Technical Representative for all technical, programmatic, and schedule matters.

2 SCOPE OF WORK

The Supplier shall fabricate SR BPM flexible jumper bracket assemblies in accordance with LBNL-provided drawings and CAD models.

• All hardware shall be built to print.
