Questions and Answers – 7/26/2013
Q1: Our insurance company is asking about liquidated damages. I have perused the documents but cannot seem to see where if at all the documents state anything regarding this. Could you point me to where I could look for that?
A1: Liquidated Damages will not be assessed; therefore no contract clause is included.
Q2: have a question about the intended start date for this job. It bids on 8/20. It usually takes a while to get everybody together to decide on the awardee and the peak of fire season is coming so it may take even longer than normal. I’m assuming a Notice to Proceed won’t be issued until some time in October. Demolition could be finished but it is really pushing the construction season to think that reasonable sitework can happen during the winter months at this jobsite.
A2: The 365 day contract performance period from Notice to Proceed (expected 10/15) takes into account limited on-site work opportunities during the winter months. There will not be a winter suspension; it is anticipated that demolition will occur prior to the winter months, the bulk of submittals can be approved during the winter, subcontractors can be lined up, and other scheduling and prep work can occur so when spring arrives an entire construction season is available to complete the project.
Q3: Please reference specification 07115 for Bituminous Dampproofing. None of the details in the plans indicate the location of this application. Please confirm if this specification should be removed, or provide a detail indicating the location of the application.
A3: Paragraph 1.01 states the damp-proofing will be furnished and applied to below-grade foundation walls. This is the 18” dimension shown on drawing S2.2 in details 1, 2 and 3.
