1.4 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
A. Security Access System: Control access to building and site using encoded cards:
1. Selected Exterior and Interior Doors and gates: Control access into site, building and secure rooms.
1. 5 SUBMITTALS
A. See Section 01 30 00 - Administrative Requirements, for submittal procedures.
B. Shop Drawings: Provide system wiring diagram showing each device and wiring connection required.
C. Product Data: Provide electrical characteristics and connection requirements.
D. Manufacturer's Installation Instructions: Indicate application conditions and limitations of use stipulated by product testing agency. Include instructions for storage, handling, protection, examination, preparation, installation, and starting of product.
E. Project Record Documents: Record actual locations of access authorization equipment.
F. Operation Data: Operating instructions.
G. Maintenance Data: Maintenance and repair procedures.
H. Maintenance Materials: Furnish the following for Government's use in maintenance of project.
1. See Section 01 6000 - Product Requirements, for additional provisions.
2. Deliver keys/cards not used in initial installation to Government as directed.

2.02 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION AND COMPONENTS
A. Security Access Control Panel:
1. System Description: Proximity Card readers shall be controlled by a centralized Intelligent
System Controller (ISC) which allows individual programming and control of each card reader.
The ISC shall have the capability of networking to a secure server at a remote location in the future, this controller to be located in the building Data Rm. 112. The ISC shall have a minimum 512 KB on-board memory, capable of controlling 24 card readers, support a minimum of 8 card formats simultaneously including the USDA LinkPass cards, allow for a minimum of 300 access levels, meet NIST certified Advance Encryption Standard (AES) 128-bit algorithum, allow for individual extended hold open and strike times to meet ADA compliance, contain sufficient flash memory for real time program updates, allow alarm masking, and have a lithium battery back-up. ISC to be Lenel Model LNL-500 and to include
Dual Reader Interface Modules as required. Lenel Model-1320. Each card reader shall be powered by a low voltage system and have Cat 6 data lines run from the individual card reader to the interface modules (locate in ceiling spaces) and then termitated back at the ISC.
Proximity readers shall have a read range of 6 to 8 inches with reader installed on exterior doors having an operating temperature range of -31 to +150 degrees F.
B. Encoded Proximity Card Readers:
1. Product: Lenel Prox LPMM-6800 sutable for mounting on door mullions.
C. Electric Strikes:
1. Provided under Section 08 7100
D. Operator Interface:
1. Provide as part of this section an IBM compatible PC located in Data Room 112 to be used solely for monitoring and programing the Access Control System herein specified. The CPU shall be a minimum of an Intel Pentium Dual Core Processo, 2.5 GHz; 320 GB hard drive, 16x DVD +/-
RW drive, 2GB RAM, 17" widescreen flat panel monitor.
a. Provide as part of this section a Printer located adjacent to above PC. Printer to be black & white laser printer with 1200 x 1200 dpi (adjustable) print resolution, duty cycle up to 25,000 pages/month. Supply minmum of two (2) ink cartridges.
b. System software to be Microsoft Windows XP for Professionals and equipped with Microsoft
Office 2007 versions of Word, Excel and Access.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.01 INSTALLATION
A. Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
B. Use 16 AWG minimum size conductors for detection and signal circuit conductors. Install wiring in conduit.
C. Make conduit and wiring connections to door hardware devices furnished and installed under
Section 08 7100.
3.02 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
A. Perform field inspection and testing in accordance with Section 01 4000.
B. Manufacturer Services: Furnish services of technician to supervise installation, adjustments, final connections, system testing, and to train Government personnel.
3.03 CLOSEOUT ACTIVITIES

A. Demonstrate normal and abnormal modes of operation, and required response to each.
B. Provide 4 hours of instruction each for two persons.
3.04 MAINTENANCE
A. Furnish service and maintenance of security access system for one year from Date of
Substantial Completion.
3.05 LOCATIONS
A. See Hardware Groups in Section 08 7100 for door numbers requiring card readers.
