1.01 SECTION INCLUDES

A. Removal of Individual Marked Trees.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.01 MATERIALS

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.01 TREE REMOVAL & DISPOSAL REQUIREMENTS

A. Scope: Contractor to remove and dispose of individual trees, as marked by the Forest Service.

Individual trees shall be marked with pink flagging. All debris, marked trees, stumps, roots and other protruding vegetative material shall be cleared, grubbed, removed or disposed of in accordance to the specifications.

B. Vegetation Removed: Do not bury, landfill, or leave on site, except as indicated.

1. There are 52 hazard trees to be cut. No tree will be more than 24” in diameter. Any additional trees, including those added or those over 24” in diameter, will be negotiated on a per tree basis after the task order has been awarded.

2. All trees, with a 3” diameter or greater and up to a 3” top, must be limbed and bucked to a length between 18” and 24”. Cut pieces must be stacked adjacent to campsites or roadways, in a location approved by the COR.

3. Slash (tops, limbs and trees under 3” diameter) must be chipped by the Contractor to be used for mulching on site. Chips on Government property must be spread. The average depth of the chips cannot exceed 3 inches above ground surface.

4. Contractor must grind or remove all stumps which are created by the Contractor in the act of cutting a hazard tree within five feet of a use area (campsite, picnic site). Stumps and roots must be ground or removed to a depth of 6 inches below natural ground. Contractor must backfill holes left by removal. It is estimated that 20 stumps will need to be ground or removed. Other stumps may remain.

5. Controlled felling shall be used to ensure the direction of fall so as to prevent damage to property, structures, other vegetation or traffic.

6. If branches of remaining trees or shrubs are damaged during construction, the Contractor shall trim the damaged limb as near flush with the truck/stem as practicable.

3.03 DEBRIS

A. Remove debris, junk, and trash from site.

B. Leave site in clean condition, ready for subsequent work.
