Clarifications from the Site Showing In some places the solicitation mentions three initial projects, but there are only these two.
Applicable to Boggs Creek Recreation Area
1) Question: The picnic table anchor system does not seem to match the leg configuration of the picnic table. How should we accommodate for this discrepancy?
Response: Substitute the specified picnic table anchoring system with the one identified in revised Drawing 3.
2) Question: The specified parking barrier calls for unconventional lumber sizes. Can any substitutions be made to the sizes of lumber?
Response: No, the barriers must be constructed using the specified dimensions.
3) Question: What is the total number or length of the parking barriers to be installed?
Response: As it states in Section 32 3200 of the Specifications, the “total approximate length of all barriers to be installed equals 90 feet. Contractor to assume 10’ length per section.”
4) Question: Are the hazard trees to be removed marked on the ground? If not, how can we know the size of trees to be cut? Are we being asked to buck and limb all trees which are being cut?
Response: There are 52 hazard trees to be cut. No tree will be more than 24” in diameter. All trees, with a 3” diameter or greater and up to a 3” top, must be limbed and bucked to a length between 18” and 24”. Cut pieces must be stacked adjacent to campsites or roadways, in a location approved by the COR. Any additional trees, including those over 24” in diameter, will be negotiated on a per tree basis after the task order has been awarded. Slash (tops, limbs and trees under 3” diameter) must be chipped by the Contractor to be used for mulching on site.
5) Question: Are we being asked to remove all stumps, including those existing and created, within a five foot perimeter of use areas? Can stumps be ground rather than removed?
Response: Contractor must grind or remove all stumps which are created by the Contractor in the act of cutting a hazard tree within five feet of a use area (campsite, picnic site). Stumps and roots must be ground or removed to a depth of 6 inches below natural ground. Contractor must backfill holes left by removal. It is estimated that 20 stumps will need to be ground or removed.
6) Question: The storage building that is identified is now a discontinued item. If it is not available at the time of ordering, can a substitution be made?
Response: Yes, if the specified building is no longer available a substitute can be made of similar quality and price.
7) Question: How is the food storage locker to be installed?
Response: As is states in Section 12 9300 of the Boggs Creek Specifications, the food locker can be installed “using one of two installation methods: 1) pole-type installation or 2) surface mount installation.
8) Question: What type of sign posts are to be used?
Response: All sign posts are to be 4” x 4” Pressure Treated Southern Pine with the exception of the site entrance sign support base (See detail on Drawing 7).
Applicable to Ocmulgee/Oconee Recreation Areas
9) Question: What is the square footage of the information kiosk roof to be replaced at the Ocmulgee Equestrian Trailhead?
Response: The measurement is approximately 80 square feet.
Applicable to both Areas
10) Question: How are we supposed to install the fee tube? The specs reference a concrete pad, but the drawings do not show this.
Response: The fee tube is to be installed in the ground. As per the drawings indicate, 24” of the fee tube will be below grade, including two 5/8” rebar. To secure the fee tube, the base shall be set in concrete. The concrete shall be a minimum of 31” x 31” x 36”.
11) Question: What are the dimensions of the concrete footings needed for installation of the fire rings?
Response: The concrete footings shall be a minimum of 4” x 4” x 19”.
12) Question: What is the type of pea gravel that is to be used for the tent pads and living spaces?
Response: Either granite pea gravel, #7 or Georgia granite pea gravel, #89 can be used for the tent pads and living spaces.
13) Question: If the GAB is only to be 1” thick, does that mean it will need to pass stricter gradation specifications?
Response: No, change the specified thickness of 1” to 1 ½”. This substitution will change the quantity of GAB to be placed at Boggs Creek from 113 tons to 171 tons. This substitution will change the quantity of GAB to be placed at Oconee River from 1.8 tons to 2.7 tons.
