About this file

This is an Additional Specifications document for a state and local contract opportunity with the State of California for the Boat Boarding Float Replacement project at McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park. The scope of work requires the contractor to construct and install a new 6-foot by 80-foot courtesy dock (480 square feet total) to existing piles and gangway, and remove and dispose of the existing dock. The dock frame and joists must be constructed from Marine-grade 6061-T6 aluminum with specific dimensional requirements: perimeter structural tubes measuring 4 inches wide by 11 inches tall by ½ inch thick, and interior joist tubes measuring 8 inches tall by 2 inches wide by 1/8 inch thick spaced no more than 19 inches apart. Hoop pile holders made from 1-inch square or round Marine-grade 6061-T6 aluminum stock will be welded and installed at 8, 38, and 61 feet. Heavy-duty flush-mounted piano hinges made from Marine-grade 6061-T6 aluminum with marine-grade hinge pins will connect dock sections and attach the dock to the existing gangway. Diagonal bracing creating a W pattern must be included in each section, with all welds requiring uniform bead width, consistent ripple patterns, and non-destructive testing.

The floating system shall consist of ACE Roto Mold floats or equivalent designed to support at least 40 pounds per square foot, totaling a capacity of 19,220 pounds for the entire dock. Floats must be one-piece foam-filled construction with heavy-duty mounting flanges and structural ribs, meeting ASTM D1998-06 impact test standards and Army Corps of Engineers Regulation 33CFR 327.30, installed with stainless steel hardware. Decking will be high-impact, weather-resistant grey vinyl with ultraviolet inhibitors (Brock Doc or equivalent) or aluminum, installed with a concealed clip system perpendicular to the frame. Marine-grade flexible PVC bumpers (RYKO or equivalent) in white will be installed along the top and bottom edges with stainless steel mounting hardware. The dock will include 16 eight-inch stainless steel pop-up cleats (Accon or equivalent) with four cleats per 20-foot dock section, centered and spaced no more than 12 feet apart, installed with removable stainless steel hardware.

The interior joist structural tubes should be made with Marine-grade 6061-T6 aluminum. They should be at least 8 inches tall, 2 inches wide and 1/8 thick and be no more than 19 inches apart. The hoop pile holder shall be made with Marine-grade 6061-T6 aluminum and be a minimum of 1 in square or round stock. They will be welded in the field and installed to the existing piles at 8 feet, 38 feet, and 61 feet. See detail sheet. Each dock section will be attached using heavy duty flush mounted piano hinges from Marine-grade 6061-T6 aluminum. A heavy-duty flush mount piano hinge will also be used to connect the dock to the existing gangway. All hinge pins shall be made from at least ¾ inch marine grade stock.

Diagonal bracing shall be included in each dock section to create a W pattern. See detail sheet. All welds should have uniform bead width, consistent ripple patterns, and proper cleaning with stainless brushes to prevent contamination and be non-destructive tested.

DOCK FLOATS

Floats should be ACE Roto Mold floats or equivalent and be designed to hold at least

40lbs per square foot. The docks total square feet is 480 so the total weight should be

19,220 lbs. ½ stainless steel hardware will be used to install the floats to the frame.

Each float shall be foam filled with one piece construction with heavy duty mounting flanges and structural ribs. Meet ASTM D1998-06 impact test and the Army Corp of

Engineer regulation 33CFR 327.30
