About this file
This document is Addendum No. 13 from the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) regarding the Metro Tunnel Cellular Service contract opportunity, designated as MTR-21-014-RV. The addendum provides clarifying information pertaining to the scale of the Metro tunnel levels for the purposes of estimating the required services. It instructs proposers to use the information provided in Addendum 9 to calculate the approximate length of the platform, which is a key input for the level of design required in the RFP response.
The Metro Tunnel Cellular Service contract seeks to provide standard cellular services within the Metro tunnels, which consist of two tunnels approximately 6.2 miles long each, for a total of 12.4 miles (65,000 ft) of tunnel. This contract is necessary to enable MDOT MTA customers to utilize their personal cell phones while inside the Metro tunnels, which is currently a safety issue due to the lack of commercial communications infrastructure.

Below is additional information concerning scale:
For the approximate size of the station levels for your estimation only. The selected vendor may request more detailed drawings and/or make physical measurements.
Please see addendum 9 page 15 for span distances.
Note: The length of the platform is the last entry. We will call this Y as a constant throughout the system.
Please see Addendum 9 Page 282 for the Upton station only. (These calculations should be done on each station individually).
Print and physically measure the platform length in the dwg (level 1 the red circles are the public area detail of the platform.).
For this exercise, we will say that the platform was 4 inches in length whereas, the overall drawing length is 6.5 inches for level 1.
Therefore, by a ratio: 4 is to Y as 6.5 is to X. (X is the length you are trying to determine).
4/Y = 6.5/X X = 6.5Y/4
By this method, each station and floor can be approximated for the level of design required for the RFP response.
