About this file

This document is an Addendum to a bid for the Echols Hall Mechanical Improvements project at Norfolk State University. The project is identified by the state project code 213-2122-012 and is being managed by the architect, Hanbury. The addendum clarifies information related to the proposals from Trane and Thermo-trol, which are stand-alone contracts with the owner. It also provides responses to prebid questions regarding the ceiling system, wall construction, and the scope of work for certain rooms. The addendum includes changes to the drawings, but there are no changes to the specifications.

The addendum indicates that the Trane equipment will be purchased, shipped, and delivered directly to the owner, and Thermo-trol will be directly contracted with the owner for their scope of work. The general contractor will be responsible for coordinating with these separate contracts. The existing ceiling system is understood to be Armstrong 770 with a 15/16" grid, but the contractor will need to field verify the conditions prior to purchasing new materials. The typical wall construction is CMU, with one room identified as having metal stud partitions.

1.3 PERTAINING TO PREBID QUESTIONS:

A. Question: Are the proposals from Trane and Thermo-trol "stand alone" prices?

A/E Response: The proposals from Trane and Thermo-trol cover only the scope identified in their proposals and are stand-alone contracts with the owner.

B. Question: Do we need to add anything to our bid such as to cover sales tax, shipping, handling relative to the stated value [noted in these proposals] to our pricing? I understand that the noted prices will not be included in our bid to the Owner.

A/E Response: Trane equipment will be purchased, shipped, and delivered to the owners designated locations as a direct contract with the owner. The equipment will become the contractors responsibility once the contractor takes possession. Thermo-trol’s scope of materials and installation is directly contracted with the owner. Reference CO-7 General Conditions for the contract in the Project Manual for GC requirements on separate contracts.

C. Question: Who will manage and schedule Trane and Thermo-trol? What areas will the general contractor be responsibility.....safety, insurance, bonding, scheduling, working hours and any other type of work related possibilities?

A/E Response: Reference CO-7 General Conditions for the contract in the Project Manual for guidance on separate contracts. Trane equipment deliveries will be made direct to the owner.
