About this file

Addendum #3 is issued by the City of Durango Financial Services Department for the Durango-La Plata County Airport Upper Overflow Parking Lot Reconstruction project. The addendum provides clarifications and modifications to the original Invitation for Bid, addressing three key questions from potential bidders. The document revises specifications for asphalt paving subgrade depth (confirming 8" is adequate), details for ADA sidewalk base course requirements (4" of Class 6 base course), and sign support specifications (2-3/8" Tubular Steel with wedge and socket base).

The addendum indicates that the quantities listed in the original bid schedule were incorrect and includes a revised bid schedule with corrected quantities for excavation and base course materials. Bidders are required to acknowledge receipt of this addendum in their bid package, and each firm, contractor, or subcontractor is responsible for understanding how the modifications affect their potential work. The document is dated January 23, 2024, and is part of the ongoing bidding process for the airport parking lot reconstruction project, with bids due on February 6th, 2024 at 3:00 pm Mountain Time.

ADDENDUM #3

to Invitation for Bid for Durango-La Plata County Airport Upper Overflow Parking Lot Reconstruction

Addendum Date – January 23, 2024

The following shall become as fully a part of the above-named Invitation for Bid as if therein included and shall take full and complete preference over anything therein contained to the contrary.

Acknowledgment: Each Bidder shall acknowledge receipt of this Addendum in their Bid package.

Each and every firm, contractor or subcontractor shall be responsible for reading each and every item in this Addendum to ascertain to what extent and in what manner it affects the work in which they are interested.

Modifications/Additions to the Contract Documents: The following information includes changes, clarification, and additions to the Invitation for Bid. This information shall clarify, supplement, and supersede any information included in the original Bid Document.

Question 1: Asphalt Paving Clarification: The “Asphalt Pavement Parking Lot Section” on drawing#4 shows 12” of scarified and compacted subgrade. Bid Item Descriptions 7 and 8 notes 8” should be scarified and compacted. Please confirm the depth of the scarification and compaction.

Answer 1: 8” of scarified and compacted subgrade is adequate where suitable subbase material is present.

Question 2: ADA Sidewalk: Drawing #11 does not appear to show any work under the ADA sidewalk. Other details, such as those on drawing#18, show 6” of Class 6 under concrete. Please provide a detail or confirm the earthwork necessary for this concrete.

Answer 2: The project requires 4” of Class 6 base course placed underneath the concrete sidewalk and gutter, variable height curb and asphalt patch for the ADA sidewalk replacement portion of the scope. No Class 2 base course is required.

The quantities currently listed on the bid schedule do not represent the correct amounts for base course or excavation. Included with Addendum #3 is a revised bid schedule with the corrected quantities for Items 7 – Excavation, 13a- Class 6 Base Course and 13b Class 2 Base Course.

Question 3: Sign Support Detail: Can a detail be provided for the sign supports? The supports are noted on drawing#20.

Answer 3: Per the “General Sign Note” on Sheet 20, sign supports shall be tubular steel with slipbase castings per CDOT standards. After reviewing this requirement, the slipbase casting is unnecessary for this application. The sign post can be 2-3/8” Tubular Steel (P1) with a wedge and socket base as shown on CDOT Standard Drawing S-614-8.
