PROVIDE CONSTRUCTION OF NEW TOWER

AND DEMOLITION OF EXISTING TOWERS

for the

FREDERICKSBURG, TX (T82[FKB])

REMOTE COMMUNICATIONS AIR/GROUND (RCAG)

SITE DETAIL SPECIFICATIONS

The following T82 RCAG specifications should be used in conjunction with the UIS Tower Replacement DB General Specifications (General Specifications) and provide further details and site specific project information pertaining to the work requirements for this Subcontract.

A. Project Location: The T82 RCAG facility is located west of county road. 965, approximately seven miles north of Fredericksburg, TX. The site presently contains two guyed type towers with platform decks at 30’ AGL. The GPS position coordinates for the site are:

Latitude: 30.38639, Longitude: -98.86306 B. Summary of Site Specific Work: The new T82 RCAG tower will have a twelve (12) antenna mount platform with the deck at 30’ AGL (refer to the tower assembly/erection drawings included in this solicitation). Site specific work to be accomplished by the Subcontractor includes, but is not limited to, the following (refer the General Specifications for antenna mounts marked “NOT USED” and for spare cables):

1. Demolition work includes the removal of two guyed type towers with platform decks at 30’ AGL. Towers are galvanized steel with no paint.

2. Furnish (unless noted otherwise below) and install new communication cabling, junction boxes, antennas, mounts and all other items as required for the complete installation from the communication equipment in the site shelter to the top of the new tower all in conformance with the applicable Subcontract drawings, General Specifications, this and any other applicable Subcontract documents. Such items include:

i. Twelve (12) new mounts and identified number of antennas, located in the platform area as indicated in the service layout plan included in these specifications and other above referenced documents. All mount materials will be provided with the Contractor Furnished Material (CFM).

ii. Two (2) total junction boxes for the new cabling, with one mounted within the new work platform and one mounted at the tower base. The tower base junction box (J-box) will be located on the face of the new tower nearest the shelter within 5-10’ of the wall or as otherwise approved. All J-boxes are to have lightning protection (LP) bulkheads with polyphasers. An overhead awning with back panel will be included, mounted to the tower structure to shield maintenance workers from rain and ice when performing work within the base J-box. Awning and support materials will be provided with the CFM.

iii. Sixteen (16) complete runs of ½” Heliax cables run out the bottom of the base box into a cable tray with ice shield over to center of tower stair runs (passing under lowest stair run). Heliax will then continue vertically up tower between stair runs and into bottom of the platform J-box (PF J-box). From there, twelve (12) LMR-400 cables will be installed out the sides of platform J-box (PF J-box) to the antennas via cableways that allow for cable maintenance from above the deck and out the top of the base J-box via 4” conduit in to the radio racks in the shelter. The cable support ladder (for cable runs between stairs from base to PF) and trays/trapeze with ice shield (for cable runs between base J-box and cable ladder) will be provided with the CFM, all other cable supports, cable holders/clips, etc. will be supplied by the Subcontractor. All other cable supports needed for cable runs from the top of the base J-box to the radios/racks inside the shelter (conduit, trays, etc.) are NOT provided with the CFM.

iv. All RF cables must use compatible end connectors. LMR-400 patch cables must not use any adaptors to accomplish gender change or 90 degree bends for connection to polyphasers or radios. Refer project specifications regards spares. Submit type proposed for review/approval prior to obtaining for the work.

v. All miscellaneous appurtenances required to complete the work, i.e.: the cable ends, polyphasers, bulkheads, cable mounting appurtenances/hardware, grounding, etc.

T82 RCAG SITE PHOTOGRAPHS

SITE FROM N TO S

Good access roads to site. The existing two 30’ guyed towers must remain in service during the work - remove after trial service period for new tower.

SITE FROM EAST

Protect guy anchors and other critical site components. Use spotters when equipment movements occur near them.

FROM SHELTER TO E

EAST SIDE FROM NE

Power and telco are overhead from the east and cross the entrance near the shelter. Telco service is lower than the power line. Sufficient clearance exists for smaller equipment movements using spotters when near. Work area is SW of the shelter. Large equipment may need to access the work area around the north side of the shelter, avoiding guys and the northern tower.

Large equipment may need to access the work area around the north side of the shelter to avoid low hanging lines.

EAST SIDE FROM SE

SOUTH SIDE FROM SE

NEW TOWER

FROM SW TO NE

NEW TOWER

WEST SIDE FROM SW

Old tower foundation is to be removed during demolition work for other towers.

VIEWS OF SW SHELTER WALL CORNER

4” GRSC with LMR-400 cables in from tower base J-box to radios thru SW wall corner just below ceiling. End conduit within 3” of wall surface. From there, install new cables over to radios using additional cable supports as needed to result in 1’-2’ unsupported gap at wall for potential filter installation during trial service period. Shelter walls are CMU type construction with insulated vinyl siding outside and wood paneling inside.

N SHELTER WALL

Use spare breaker for lights and PF outlet. Install 3/4” GRSC (may be EMC inside shelter) w/ 3, #12 conductors each circuit. Route where/as needed and approved by RE to maintain 15” min. clearance from parallel runs of signal cabling along power run.

Power to new tower.

INTERIOR FROM NW TO SE

INTERIOR W WALL

Remove all cables to existing J-boxes and boxes from walls during demolition work after service cut-over. Cut fill with foam sealant and cap conduits near floor and wall penetrations.
