About this file

This document is a comprehensive Project Manual for a Veterans Affairs North Texas Grand Prairie Utility Upgrade project located at 2737 Sherman Road in Grand Prairie, Texas. The project involves utility infrastructure improvements and involves civil, mechanical, electrical, and structural work. The project manual includes detailed specifications across multiple divisions, including HVAC, electrical, earthwork, and utilities, with a focus on upgrading existing infrastructure at the VA medical facility.

Key technical details include plans for auger-cast pile foundations, utility upgrades, and pavement replacements. The geotechnical report reveals the site has expansive clay soils requiring specialized foundation and construction techniques, including a recommended structural floor system with a minimum 12-inch void space and potential subgrade moisture conditioning. The project will involve replacing sections of entrance driveways with Portland cement concrete, installing new utility systems, and implementing specific construction methods to mitigate potential ground movement. The project is being managed by the Department of Veterans Affairs North Texas Healthcare System, with the project number 549-23-723.
