About this file

This document is an Ordering Data Sheet for a nine nuclide gamma calibration source with radioactivity deposited onto a glass fiber filter. The source is required to have a total activity of 3.0 microcuries (+/- 15%) with each nuclide's activity uncertainty not exceeding 5% at the 99% confidence level. The source must be National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) traceable and have surface contamination levels less than 450 pCi/100cm^2. The vendor must ensure the source activity is less than the exempt quantity per 10 CFR 30. The source is to be shipped to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & IMF in Bremerton, WA. This Ordering Data Sheet is related to a pre-solicitation for the "NUCLIDE GAMMA CALIBRATION" requirement by the Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command.

ORDERING DATA SHEET – GENERAL

NOUN NAME: RADIOACTIVE SOURCE

DESCRIPTION:

1 ea Nine nuclide gamma calibration source with radioactivity deposited onto glass fiber filter with 47 mm OD and 41 mm diameter active area encapsulated between two layers of Kapton.

-Nuclide mixture: Cd-109, Co-57, Te-123m, Cr-51, Sn 113, Sr-85, Cs-137, Y-88, Co-60 with nuclide activity ratios selected to provide similar count rates on typical coaxial high-purity germanium detectors.

-Active diameter: 41 mm

-Total source activity shall be 3.0 microcuries (–15%, +0%)

-The vendor must insure that the source activity is not greater than exempt quantity per 10 CFR 30.

-The reported radioactivity uncertainty of each nuclide shall not exceed ± 5% at the 99% confidence level.

-Surface contamination levels on the source and packing materials must be less than 450 pCi/100cm^2.
