About this file

This is a project map document for the 2026 Salt Cedar Treatments initiative issued by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Socorro Field Office in Socorro, New Mexico. The map illustrates Priority 3 access routes and treatment areas for saltcedar removal operations spanning approximately 4 acres in central New Mexico, located near Lemitar along the I-25 corridor between Albuquerque and Socorro.

The treatment area is accessible from I-25 exit 156 at Lemitar, proceeding north on the I-25 Frontage Road for 4.6 miles to San Lorenzo Canyon, then heading west through the drainage bottom for 3.25 miles to reach the first saltcedar site. Additional saltcedar patches are sparsely distributed for approximately 2 more miles westward along the drainage. The map delineates land ownership and management jurisdictions, including Bureau of Land Management parcels, US Fish and Wildlife Service lands, state lands, and private or unknown properties. The document was prepared as of August 24, 2026, and references the Priority 3 Project Map for precise site location details. The BLM Socorro Field Office contact information is provided as 901 South Highway 85, Socorro, New Mexico 87801, telephone 575-835-0412.
