About this file

This is a Project Utility Coordination Form prepared by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation Highway Division for Proposal No. 613295-133722, a deck replacement project on Log Plain Road over the G&W Railroad in Greenfield, Massachusetts (FAP No. STP(BR-OFF)-003S(930)X, G-12-022). The project involves coordination of utility relocations with four utility companies: Eversource, Verizon, Comcast, and GCET. The primary consultant is Jacobs Engineering Group (contact: Matthew Schwartz), with the Resident Engineer identified as Paul Kelly. The utility coordination planning was completed as of December 9, 2025, with a scheduled advertisement date of January 31, 2026. The form documents the relocation of one utility pole set and establishes the sequence and timeline for utility operations based on the consultant's proposed construction staging.

The form outlines a phased relocation schedule requiring contractor enabling work (tree clearing) followed by utility company operations across four main phases involving Verizon and Eversource pole setting, Eversource transformer and streetlight transfers, GCET fiber splicing and activation, and Comcast strand placement and cable work. Total estimated utility work duration is approximately 89 work days, excluding lead times. The contractor must provide 7 calendar days advance notification to the District Construction Office and allow 30 days advance notice-to-proceed for each utility operation. Utility non-work periods include contingency days for New England weather conditions, and seasonal restrictions apply November 15 through March 15 for gas line work and municipally owned utilities. The form specifies that contractors must provide safe and unimpeded access for utility operations, including necessary site preparation such as guard rail removal, barrier removal, tree removal, and grading.
