About this file
This document is an Exhibit C.1 Project Description for the University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC) 2025 Bond Implementation Program, detailing seven distinct expansion and renovation projects across the UMC Main Campus. The proposed projects include expanding surgical services for both UMC and El Paso Children's Hospital, adding two new cardiac catheterization procedure rooms, upgrading interior finishes in the Thomason Tower, renovating dietary facilities, creating a new 23-bed ICU and Burn Center, relocating endoscopy services, and renovating the 8th floor of Thomason Tower to accommodate 25 observation bedrooms. The projects are part of a comprehensive campus improvement initiative, with construction documents for some projects scheduled to be issued for bid in Summer 2025.
The related state and local contract opportunity is a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) seeking an Activation and Occupancy Planner to support the UMC 2025 Bond Implementation Projects. The selected firm will work under the direction of the Assistant Administrator of Planning Design and Construction, with the ultimate goal of providing comprehensive planning services for the campus improvements. The selection will be made at UMC's sole discretion, evaluating proposals based on best value to the organization. The project is located in Texas and is being pursued by the El Paso County Hospital District, demonstrating a strategic approach to modernizing and expanding medical infrastructure in the region.
