Theatrical Lighting Upgrade for Elk Ridge Middle School
This is a project manual and specifications document for the Jordan School District's Theatrical Lighting and Audio Visual Upgrades at Elk Ridge Middle School located at 3659 West 9800 South, South Jordan, Utah 84009. The project encompasses theatrical lighting and audio visual system upgrades for the school's auditorium, including entertainment LED luminaires (ColorSource CYC, Spot V, and PAR V Zoom fixtures), entertainment lighting controls (Ion XE 2K console), architectural controls (Unison Echo systems), network infrastructure (Simple Network Boxes and Response gateways), and Sensor3 power control systems. The specifications are organized into multiple divisions covering electrical general provisions, conduit raceways, conductors and cables, electrical boxes and fittings, grounding systems, theatrical lighting equipment, and related installation requirements. The work shall be conducted in a single phase beginning on a date determined by the school district, with the contractor required to maintain Owner occupancy during construction and coordinate with existing building operations. Detailed submittal requirements include shop drawings, product data, coordination drawings, and operation and maintenance documentation, with a minimum two-week review period for submittals. The project requires compliance with the National Electric Code, International Building Code, and applicable Utah state codes and regulations.
All materials must be new and bear manufacturer labels and UL certifications where applicable. The contractor is responsible for providing comprehensive warranties of one year minimum on all electrical work, with incandescent and fluorescent lamps warranted for two months from substantial completion. The installation must be completed by competent workers under qualified supervision with proper state contracting licenses and appropriate apprentice-to-journeyman ratios. All temporary power requirements are the contractor's responsibility, with arrangements coordinated through the institution, and power outages for construction must occur during non-standard working hours with at least seven days' advance notice. The contractor shall provide complete operation and maintenance manuals in PDF format, including professionally produced instructional DVDs specific to the equipment provided, training programs for Owner-selected personnel with video documentation, and software backup on USB drives. Fire penetration seals must comply with UL 1479 standards, and all equipment must be properly labeled and identified. Final closeout procedures include comprehensive cleaning, pest control inspections, equipment testing certification, and submission of all warranties, record drawings, and maintenance documentation before substantial completion.

1.2 DEFINITIONS
A. Activity: A discrete part of a project that can be identified for planning, scheduling, monitoring, and controlling the construction project. Activities included in a construction schedule consume time and resources.
1. Critical activities are activities on the critical path. They must start and finish on the planned early start and finish times.
2. Predecessor Activity: An activity that precedes another activity in the network.
3. Successor Activity: An activity that follows another activity in the network.
B. CPM: Critical path method, which is a method of planning and scheduling a construction project where activities are arranged based on activity relationships. Network calculations determine when activities can be performed and the critical path of Project.
C. Critical Path: The longest connected chain of interdependent activities through the network schedule that establishes the minimum overall Project duration and contains no float.
D. Float: The measure of leeway in starting and completing an activity.
1. Float time is not for the exclusive use or benefit of either Owner or Contractor, but is a jointly owned, expiring Project resource available to both parties as needed to meet schedule milestones and Contract completion date.
E. Fragnet: A partial or fragmentary network that breaks down activities into smaller activities for greater detail.
F. Major Area: A story of construction, a separate building, or a similar significant construction element.
1.3 SUBMITTALS
A. Submittals Schedule: Submit three copies of schedule. Arrange the following information in a tabular format:
1. Scheduled date for first submittal.
CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS DOCUMENTATION 01320 - 2

4. Name of subcontractor.
5. Description of the Work covered.
6. Scheduled date for Engineer's final release or approval.

1. Coordinate each submittal with fabrication, purchasing, testing, delivery, other submittals, and related activities that require sequential activity.
2. Coordinate transmittal of different types of submittals for related parts of the Work so processing will not be delayed because of need to review submittals concurrently for coordination.
a. Engineer reserves the right to withhold action on a submittal requiring coordination with other submittals until related submittals are received.
B. Submittals Schedule: Comply with requirements in Division 1 Section "Construction Progress Documentation" for list of submittals and time requirements for scheduled performance of related construction activities.
C. Processing Time: Allow enough time for submittal review, including time for resubmittals, as follows. Time for review shall commence on Engineer's receipt of submittal. No extension of
