About this file
This is a URS Post-Retired Verification Form for independent contractors (1099 employees) submitted to Jordan School District in Utah. The form is required to verify whether a contractor, owner, partner, or principal has retired from the Utah Retirement Systems (URS). Contractors must disclose retirement status, provide their birthdate if applicable, and specify the type of business they provide. The form must be submitted to the Accounting Department along with a W-9 form. This verification is necessary because URS retirees receiving monthly benefits face restrictions when returning to work, whether as employees paid through payroll or as independent contractors paid through accounting.
URS retirees who fail to report reemployment to URS on the required Post-Retirement Employment form (Form RTRT-27A) may face liability to repay URS any overpayment amounts resulting from the violation, as governed by Utah Code Section 49-11-1207(2). Retirees are directed to contact URS's Retirement Benefits Department at 801-366-7770 before beginning work with Jordan School District to complete and file the Post-Retirement Employment form. This verification requirement applies to all contractors bidding on or working on Jordan School District projects, including the Theatrical Lighting Upgrade for Elk Ridge Middle School.

If it is discovered that a URS retiree failed to report reemployment to URS on its Post-
Retirement Employment form (Form RTRT-27A) in violation of Title 49, the retiree will be liable to repay URS the amount of any overpayment resulting from the violation to report. See Utah code section 49-11-1207(2).
*The retiree is directed to contact URS's Retirement Benefits Department at 801-
