About this file
This is a specification document for the City of St. George, Utah, for the complete turnkey installation of a new LED sports lighting system for seven softball fields at the Canyons Softball Complex. The project involves removing existing cages and cross arms from existing poles and installing new LED lighting fixtures, cross arms, and remote driver systems while reusing the existing poles. The lighting system must meet specific performance requirements including average illumination levels of 30 footcandles for infield areas and 20 footcandles for outfield areas, with color temperature of 5700K and minimum Color Rendering Index of 75. The design must comply with ANSI/IES RP-6 standards for sports lighting, with calculated measurements taken on specified grid spacing and verified within 10 percent of predicted mean during the first 100 hours of operation. Bidders must submit qualifications including industry certifications, photometric calculations, controls, luminaires, pole assemblies, engineered foundations, and wireless control system information, along with three references from similar projects completed within the last five years.
The project utilizes existing 70-foot mounting height for infield poles and 60-foot for outfield poles, with all structural modifications subject to 2021 IBC Building Code standards for 105 MPH wind speed. LED luminaires must be UL certified for wet locations, NEMA 4X certified, IP65 certified, and include dual power supplies with flicker-free operation. The manufacturer shall provide a 10-year warranty covering the entire system with guaranteed light levels and include all preventative and spot maintenance during the warranty period, with an alternate bid option for 25-year warranty. All components must be factory assembled, pre-wired, and tested, with corrosion-resistant materials including hot-dipped galvanized steel and stainless steel hardware. The electrical system requires 240-volt, single-phase power with maximum three-percent voltage drop, and the supplier must demonstrate a minimum of five years' experience in comparable sports lighting installations with dedicated in-house engineering, sales, and support personnel.
