Administrative Leave with Pay for up to (5) five days may be authorized to allow the appropriate review and analysis of critical incidents that may impact the appropriate delivery of services, or the health, safety and welfare of consumers and/or staff, or other events/actions which may place the consumer, staff or the agency at risk.

Administrative Leave with Pay may only be authorized by the Human Resources Director or the

Executive Director and the Executive Director will be notified of actions taken by the Human Resources

Director. After normal business hours, or when the Human Resources Director and Executive Director cannot be reached, Administrative Leave with Pay may be granted by a supervisor if the supervisor feels that it is needed to prevent further harm or abuse to a consumer. In these circumstances, the supervisor must then notify the Human Resources Director as soon as possible but not later than the start of the next business day.

Administrative Leave with Pay may only be granted for fulltime or part-time budgeted staff. Other types of employees, such as PRN employees, removed from the workplace during such an investigation will not receive payment during their time away from work, however they will receive payment for any time spent participating in the investigation/review at the request of the agency.

When Administrative Leave with Pay is granted, the Administrative Leave form providing the reason, date, anticipated duration and actual duration is completed, signed by the Human Resources Director and Executive Director, and provided to Payroll to initiate the Administrative Leave pay code. The Form is then retained in the Payroll section of the employee’s personnel file. When completing the

Administrative Leave form, the level of detail provided shall not compromise the confidentiality of clients or staff members, including that of the employee(s) being placed on Administrative Leave.
