Amendment 0004

1/6/2026

1.a. (continued)

Responses to Pre-Bid inquiries received to date are provided as follows:

Question #1: Please confirm there is no painting requirement on this project.

Response #1: We are going to request that the entire space be repainted to match existing. Basis of design for paint is Sherwin Williams Duration or Pro Industrial Interior.

Question #2: Please confirm there is no acoustical ceiling replacement on this project.

Response #2: We are going to replace entire ceiling grid and tiles as part of work, Basis of design is Armstrong Cortega ® Ang Teg 15/15” Grid with Armstrong 24”x24” tiles to be approved by COR prior to install.

Question #3: There is a discrepancy between the scope of work and the drawings. The scope of work calls for the installation of new LVT tile once where the existing carpet is. The drawing states the basis of design for the carpet is Mohawk. Please advise if the new flooring is going to be LVT or Carpet. If carpet, will it be a carpet tile or broadloom.

Response #3: New Flooring is going to be LVT.

Question #4: Do you have a basis of design for the fixed tables and chairs?

Response #4: Basis of Design: While the scope is broad, the intent is to install a top-tier seating solution that is both durable and aesthetically pleasing, befitting a modern university lecture hall. For a basis of design, I recommend looking at products from the following manufacturers, who are well-regarded for their quality and use in academic settings: Manufacturer Suggested Series KI Torsion on the Go! Hussey Seating Quattro Collection Versteel Tier These product lines offer the durability and functionality required for a high-use academic environment, while also providing a modern and professional aesthetic. The final selection will be made in consultation with the Coast Guard to determine the best fit for the space.

Question #5: Do you have a basis of design for the operable wall? Also, the current operable wall has white board that seems to be an accessory from the manufacture. Will the new operable wall be required to have new white boards installed?

Response #5: Basis of design is Modernfold (manufacturer) but it is a loose basis of design. Wall will not need white boards on it, will need two pass through doors as current model has.

Question #6: The scope of work calls for the removal and replacement of the acoustical panel wainscoting. Durning the site visit the wainscoting is not an acoustical panel. It is simple fabric glued over drywall. The acoustical panels are frame above the wainscoting. Please advise if we are to replace the acoustical panels that are frame above the wainscoting and/or are we to install acoustical panels within the wainscoting system? If installed acoustical panels in the wainscoting, there is some electrical outlets and switches that will need to be extended out to allow for these panels to be installed.

Response #6: Panels above wainscotting are to be replaced with at least as much coverage as is currently existing, wainscotting area is also trying to be converted to acoustical panels with a maximum depth of 3/4" this limits the models which can be embedded in the trim.

Question #7: Please provide some photos of the lower portion of the auditorium that was not accessible during the site walk.

Response #7: Photos Provided in Amendment 0003 posted on 31 December 2025.

1/6/2026

Question #8: Please confirm there is no work in the lower portion of the auditorium that is through the double doors and down the stairs?

Response #8: Work is confined to Lecture Hall 201 in the drawings.

Question #9: At the walk-thru, only half of the area was accessible, can the Coast Guard provide photos of the other half of the Auditorium?

Response #9: Photos Provided in Amendment 0003 posted on 31 December 2025. Yes.

Question #10: The lower wainscoting is just fabric glued directly to the drywall. Is the Coast Guard looking for acoustical sound panels in this area?

Response #10: Duplicate question. Refer to Question #25 Amendment 0003 posted on 31 December 2025.

Question #11: Can more info. be provide on the table/chairs that are required?

Response #11: Duplicate question. Refer to Question #3 Amendment 0002 posted on 17 December 2025.

Question #12: Where can a 30 yard dumpster be located?

Response #12: It can be located in the grass near the entrance if the construction window is outside Academic year (09 May-09 Aug)

Question #13: Are all the walls, soffits, columns, and wood trim being painted?

Response #13: Yes, it should look professional.

Question #14: Is there anywhere we can ventilate fumes from the Auditorium?

Response #14: If the construction window is outside Academic year (09 May-09 Aug), you can use exhaust fans and hoses to ventilate out the entrance. However, low fume paint or adhesives is preferred.

Question #15: Is the existing partition manually operated or electrically operated?

Response #15: Manually.

Question #16: What is the panel finish material?

Response #16: Coast Guard will approve the final material finish that the contractor submits for acceptance. Existing panel finish material is unknown.

Question #82: The wainscoting appears to be acoustic fabric and not typical wood paneling. What is to be replaced/installed for wainscoting? If using acoustic fabric, are these the acoustic panel type with single stretched fabric between terminals?

Response #82: It is intended that the acoustic panel will replace the wainscot. However, if the thickness of the acoustic panel extends beyond the trim, the intention is for the wall to return to a standard, white wall. The electrical outlets and switches need to be preserved and shall be extended as necessary. Once the wainscoting is removed, the wall will likely need some repairs to create a smooth surface for painting.

Question #83: Are the existing free-standing tables and chairs (non-stadium seating) to be removed by the government, or is this part of the contractor’s scope?

Response #83: Contractor will be required to move and safely store loose furniture and AV equipment within the space as necessary and reinstall when work is complete.

Question #84: After its removal and before its reinstallation, where are the furniture and audio-visual equipment to be stored?

Response #84: Contractor will coordinate storage of AV equipment with the project COR after award.

Question #85: Please confirm the type of floor substrate under the existing carpeting.
