About this file
This document is an Amendment of Solicitation/Modification of Contract (Amendment 0004, dated 4/15/2026) for Request for Proposal 70Z08726RMISC13611688 issued by the U.S. Coast Guard Civil Engineering Unit Juneau for the Construct Seward Housing project (Project No. 13611688). The amendment provides answers to Solicitation Questions 52-53 submitted by prospective contractors and confirms that the proposal due date remains 21 April 2026. Contractors are required to sign and return a copy of this amendment with their proposals.
The amendment addresses two specific technical clarifications: (1) Question 52 requested substitution of 22-gauge steel metal roofing panels for the specified .040" aluminum panels due to uplift pressure constraints, which was denied; contractors must provide bids for the materials indicated in the drawings; and (2) Question 53 addressed a discrepancy in fence height specifications between drawings C-401 and C-501, which was clarified to require all fencing to be 6'-0" tall. The contracting officer is Cheryl A. Berry, USCG Civil Engineering Unit Juneau, located at 709 West 9th Street, Room 817, Juneau, AK 99801.

AMENDMENT 0005
SOLICTATION NUMBER: 70Z08726RMISC13611688
52. With the uplift pressures in the structural drawings my metal manufacturer cannot mee the uplift pressures with .040” aluminum panels in any width. Can 22ga. steel metal roofing with 16” wide by 2” high panels be used in lieu of .040” aluminum. Steel comes with a 20yr water tight warranty and a 40-year finish warranty? The steel will be much more cost effective than the aluminum.
Answer 52: No, steel may not be substituted for aluminum. Please provide a bid for the materials indicated in the drawings
53. Most drawings, including C-401 details the fence height at 6ft tall, but C-501 (D1) details it at 8ft. Please advise.
Answer 53: All fencing shall be 6’-0” tall.
