About this file
This is a 154 (FRC) Propeller Inspection Compliance Form used for documenting the inspection and testing of propellers for Coast Guard vessel class 154 WPC. The form serves as a standardized template for both initial and final inspections, with provisions for contractor inspector and USCG verification signatures throughout.
The inspection requirements encompass material composition verification per ABS 7 Section 10 Type 4; hub bore dimensional inspection including large end diameter (202.968 mm ±2%, -1.5%), hub length (550.00 mm ±2%, -1.5%), bore taper (1:20), helical groove depth, and blue fit testing at 85% minimum; surface finish measurements on all six blades (less than 3 micrometers Ra Class 1 from radius 0.2 outward) and hub/bore areas; and Class 1 static balancing per ISO 484/1. The form requires comprehensive geometric measurements across all six blades including blade radii (933.5 mm ±0.3%), local pitches at nine radii stations with ±2.0% tolerance, section pitches, mean pitch per blade (±1%), mean propeller pitch (±0.75%), blade section widths at four radius stations, and maximum thickness at eight prescribed stations (±3% tolerance with 1 mm minimum, ±1.5% with 1 mm minimum). Additional inspection data includes track deviation/rake measurements (±1% propeller diameter), blade center axis angular spacing (60.0° ±0.5°), edge condition assessment, and visual/dye penetrant surface inspection with defect documentation. The form specifies propeller identification markings in ¼" to ½" text including serial number, ship class 154 WPC, starboard/port designation, rotation direction, NSN, design diameter (1867 mm), design pitch at 0.7R (2449 mm), manufacturer information, actual weight, and material grade (ABS Grade 4). All inspection sections require dual sign-off by both contractor inspector and USCG representative, with a critical note that bore dimensional inspection failures must be reported to the Contracting Officer immediately upon discovery.

5. Surface Inspection
Document ALL defects on the following sheets. For the dye penetrant inspection, highlight/annotate ALL defects that fall outside of the allowable parameters set by ABS Part 7, Section 10, Table 1. Provide two sheets, one per face and label pages 5a and 5b.
NOTE: Photographs may be inserted in place of these inspection forms provided the photos collectively encompass the entire propeller and adhere to the instructions for documenting/highlighting/annotating defects. The photographs must be labeled such that the blades, hub locations and defect locations are identifiable. See the following page for the hub diagram.
