About this file
This technical specification details fiber-cement siding requirements for the Federal Aviation Administration's Sioux Falls Air Traffic Control Tower renovation project. The document specifies HardiBoard® or equivalent fiber-cement siding with wood-grain texture, 5/16-inch nominal thickness, and multiple pattern options including horizontal, vertical, shingle, and panel configurations. Key requirements include using a single manufacturer's products, installing accessories like corner posts and trim, and using hot-dip galvanized fasteners.
The specification includes comprehensive installation guidelines, requiring precise mounting of siding panels no more than 24 inches on center, using ribbed bugle-head screws, and maintaining manufacturer recommended installation practices. A 25-year warranty is specified, covering structural integrity and material performance, with provisions for replacing components that experience cracking, deforming, or abnormal weathering. Aluminum flashing with siliconized polyester coating will be used at window and door heads, and joint sealants must ensure a weathertight installation.
