About this file
This document is a federal specification section for insulated metal wall panels for the Sioux Falls Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) project by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The specification provides detailed technical requirements for two primary types of insulated metal wall panels: foamed-insulation-core and laminated-insulation-core metal wall panels, with specific performance and installation requirements.
Key technical specifications include panel materials with zinc-coated or aluminum-zinc alloy-coated steel sheets, two-coat fluoropolymer white finish, panel thicknesses of 5.0 inches, and thermal resistance values of R-23 or greater. The document outlines comprehensive installation procedures, including requirements for panel attachment, sealing, flashing, and trimming. Specific manufacturer recommendations include using NUCOR Centria 'Paradigm Custom Panels' or equivalent, with detailed guidelines for fastening, weatherproofing, and maintaining panel integrity. The specification also includes quality assurance provisions, such as water-spray testing and mockup requirements, and establishes a two-year warranty for materials and workmanship.
