RFP 6973GH-21-R-00061 Questions and Answers Round 3 dated 29 April 2021:

1) Does the Tower foundation have to have “Grade Beams”, or will the FAA accept a conventional Tower foundation as long as it meets all loading requirements?

Yes, see previous Q&A where alternate tower and foundation designs may be accepted that meet the performance requirements.

2) Do we need to bid the drilled pier/ grade beam foundation design for the shelter? Or will the FAA accept a bid with a Engineered design with frost footing, or thickened edge slab?

Yes, see previous Q&A where alternate tower and foundation designs may be accepted that meet the performance requirements.

3) What do you mean by cap existing foundation?

Existing foundation will not be capped in the sense as with concrete. Wording in the SOW should have referred to the use of native soil and aggregate for backfill material to cover or cap the existing foundations as noted in the Objectives and Task Sections of the SOW.

4) The site plans show the building elevation at 1123 but the notes we received state the concrete should be 6” – 12” above the elevation of 1112?

C-100 Site Plan shows tower at estimated elevation of 1123 Ft. New building location is at estimated elevation of 1112 Ft. C-101 Site Plan showing shelter elevation as 1123 ft. is incorrect.
