About this file

Attachment J.7 is a detailed firearms qualification document for FAA Contract Security Officers (CSOs) specifying mandatory annual firearms training and certification requirements. The document outlines a comprehensive Department of Homeland Security (DHS) course of fire that requires security officers to qualify with their assigned firearm using contract-authorized ammunition, completing seven stages of shooting scenarios at varying distances (1.5 to 15 yards) with specific time constraints and positioning requirements. Officers must achieve a minimum score of 200 points out of 250 and demonstrate proficiency in various shooting techniques, including one-handed and two-handed shooting, barricade positions, and tactical reloading.

The qualification process mandates that security officers use their assigned duty equipment during qualification, including trouser belt, duty belt, magazine pouches, flashlight, first aid kit, handcuffs, pepper spray, and baton. The certification form requires documentation of the firearm's serial number, ammunition details, and signatures from both the qualifying security officer and a certified firearms instructor. This qualification is part of a broader FAA contract (693KA8-25-R-00014) for Contract Security Officer Services in the Western Service Area, aimed at protecting FAA employees, facilities, and government assets from potential security threats.
