About this file

This document provides details regarding a Design-Build solicitation for the North Section Rehabilitation project on the George Washington Memorial Parkway. The project consists of reconstructing approximately 7.5 miles of the northern section of the parkway between Spout Run and I-495, reconfiguring the Route 123 interchange to improve safety, and rehabilitating the Central Intelligence Agency interchange in Fairfax and Arlington counties, Virginia. The work includes asphalt and concrete reconstruction, drainage improvements, guardrail and barrier replacement, bridge repairs, utility work, traffic control, and other efforts. The estimated total cost for all work schedules is over $100 million. The Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division of the Federal Highway Administration, in cooperation with the National Park Service, will use a two-phase Design-Build selection process, with phase one involving a request for qualifications by January 2021 and phase two providing a request for proposal to shortlisted firms.
