About this file
This document is a comprehensive set of technical specifications for an asbestos abatement project at the John J. Cochran VA Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. The project involves removing asbestos-containing materials (ACM) from several rooms, including approximately 10 square feet of drywall system in room CB18, 2 linear feet of thermal system insulation and 50 square feet of drywall system in Room A539/A539A/A540, and 10 square feet of tan HVAC duct tape in room A940.
The specifications provide detailed requirements for the asbestos abatement process, including strict protocols for containment, personnel protection, removal procedures, decontamination, and disposal. The contractor must establish a regulated area with negative air pressure, use specific personal protective equipment, wet removal techniques, and follow precise cleanup and testing procedures. The project requires continuous air monitoring, visual inspections, and final clearance testing to ensure the area is free of asbestos contamination. The total project duration is set at 550 calendar days, with work to be performed in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other federal regulations governing asbestos abatement.
