About this file

This file contains USGBC Green Cleaning Guidelines documentation applicable to a custodial services contract opportunity with the University of Texas at Dallas Facilities Management Department. The University seeks proposals from qualified custodial service vendors to provide scheduled custodial services for designated buildings on both Main Campus and South Campus, with the solicitation allowing for selection of up to three vendors to service Main Campus Area 1, Main Campus Area 2, and South Campus. The contract term is three years, commencing July 1, 2026, and concluding June 30, 2029, with an option to extend for two additional years through June 30, 2031.

The guidelines establish sustainability requirements for cleaning products, materials, and disposable janitorial paper products used in the custodial services. To meet LEED O+M EQc3.3 standards, at least 30 percent of total annual purchases of cleaning products, disposable janitorial paper products, and trash bags by cost must meet specified sustainability criteria, including Green Seal, Environmental Choice, or equivalent eco-labeling certifications. Products must comply with standards for general-purpose cleaners, disinfectants, floor care products, hand soaps, and paper products, with allowable VOC levels defined by California Code of Regulations or ISO 14024:1999 eco-labeling standards for international projects. Alternative compliance paths are available for European projects utilizing EU Ecolabel or equivalent certifications. Materials and products must be purchased during the performance period to count toward credit achievement.
