Landscaping and Snow Removal (Section J.38) Interior Landscaping:
The ITCM shall implement an interior landscaping program to include all interior plant/landscape areas within the “Roving Class A level cleaning” areas on the Concourse, Ground, and Mezzanine levels.
Exterior Landscaping:
The ITCM shall be responsible for all exterior landscaped areas and procedures.
An exterior landscaping plan shall be submitted and approved by the GSA to cover all landscaping areas within the “Roving Class A level cleaning” areas on the Concourse and Ground levels.
• The ITCM shall conduct a seasonal changing of all flowered landscape and planter areas 4 times annually. All exterior planters in the area, including along the streetscape and in the restaurant area, will be maintained continuously.
• The ITCM shall maintain and repair the existing irrigation system.
• Tree lighting will be adjusted and maintained continuously. All bulbs will remain lit from dusk until dawn.
• Due to safety concerns, the day-care center area will not include any poisonous plants located in this vicinity.
Snow removal:
• Shall be a responsibility of the ITCM. All hardscape areas and building and garage entrances will be free of snow and ice. All snow and ice must be removed from the area by truck and must be dumped off-site.
• All cobblestone exterior areas must be treated without a vehicular plow and must be removed by brushes, sweepers, blowers, and shoveled by hand in order to prevent damage to the cobblestone pavers.
• The outdoor childcare playground area cannot be shoveled because of its rubber surface.
No snow shall be dumped temporarily on or near trees, shrubbery, ground cover, or flower bed areas.
• Chemicals and/or sand used shall not injure, damage, or destroy GSA property.
Salt (Sodium Chloride) is prohibited. All chemicals used shall be approved by the GSA.
• Snow and ice removal shall be completed prior to 5:00 a.m. and as needed throughout the workday. All areas must be clear of snow and ice. Special attention must be attributed to the building entrances, the hemicycle area and garage ramps because of heavy traffic and conditions including ice and snow buildup. Particular attention shall be paid to handicapped entrances and walkways to all entrances in case of an emergency because many doors are not normally used for an entrance but are used for emergency exit.
NOTE: The ITCM shall be held responsible for all damage to grounds and landscape caused by the physical removal method or the application of chemicals for ice and snow removal.
The day care center play area must be cleared utilizing a method that will not damage the padded rubber matting located over the hardscape areas. All play equipment will be cleared.
