About this file

This is a Pre-Bid Requests for Information (RFI) Round 2 document for Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Renovations under solicitation 47PD5526Q0051, dated October 19, 2026. The document contains government responses to four contractor inquiries addressing acoustic and interior renovation requirements.

The responses clarify key project specifications: a standalone sound masking system is required in the common corridor only, with contractor-designed systems acceptable; an STC 45 sound-rated door and frame assembly is required for Office 225, though hardware specifications and locking/keying requirements remain to be detailed; four roller shades require replacement with exact locations and dimensions to be determined, with the total number of existing shades requiring removal, reinstallation, and adjustment subject to change via contract modification; and for the new STC-45 wall construction jogging around existing ductwork, no duct modifications are anticipated or desired, but contractors should clarify their proposal approach regarding treatment in tight areas where uniform wall construction may not be feasible. The government acknowledges that the wall section navigating existing ductwork may not receive identical acoustic treatment as the remainder of the wall due to spatial constraints.

Pre-Bid RFIs - Round 2 Date: 10/19/2026 Solicitation: 47PD5526Q0051 Project: FHWA Renovations

# QUESTION RESPONSE

In response to pre-bid RFIs #18 and #22, the Government clarified that sound masking is required in the common corridor only. Is the intent to install a new standalone system or connect to an existing system? If a new standalone system is required, please confirm whether a contractor-designed system is acceptable.

It is a stand alone system.

In response to pre-bid RFIs #6 and #25, the Government confirmed that one sound-rated door and frame is required for Office 225. Please confirm the required STC rating for the door assembly and provide the door hardware specifications, including locking and keying requirements.

The STC rating for the door and frame is STC 45

Please identify the locations and dimensions of the four roller shades requiring replacement. Also confirm the total number of existing roller shades requiring removal, reinstallation and adjustment per the revised SOW.

This is a placeholder number for proposal purposes. The exact number and location is unknown. This number may change through contact mod.

Please confirm the required framing and acoustic treatment where the new STC-45 wall jogs around existing ductwork to reach the structure above. Will any duct modifications or relocation be required?

No duct modifications are aniticipated and will be avoided at all costs. Since the wall job will be in a tight area, GSA understand that this section of wall may not have the same treatment as the rest of the wall. I would suggest you clarify your proposal with your approach.
