About this file

This document is an Addendum No. 1 for a mechanical and electrical project issued by the State of South Dakota Department of the Military, specifically for the Camp Rapid – Replace LG Cooling System in B420 project (Skyline Project Number 25004). The addendum, dated September 15, 2025, provides additional details for a pre-bid meeting held on September 11, 2025, and includes key information for potential contractors. The project involves replacing the cooling system, with specific requirements including security clearances for contractor personnel, demolition of mini-split fan coils in certain rooms by the owner, and guidelines for installing fan coil units.

The addendum outlines several critical technical specifications, including the reuse of existing pipe hangers, mounting of fan coils as high as possible for gravity condensate drainage, and potential need for condensate pumps. Prior approvals for manufacturers are provided, with Carrier Corp. approved for fan coil units and Nailor for diffusers, registers, and grilles. Contractors will need to work around live data racks that must remain operational and may require escorts in certain areas. The document includes a pre-bid meeting attendance sheet with representatives from various engineering and technical firms, indicating significant interest in the project.

Project Name: Camp Rapid – Replace LG Cooling System in B420

Skyline Project Number: 25004

Addendum Number: 1

Date: September 15, 2025

ADDENDUM NO. 1 - MECHANICAL

This Addendum shall be considered as much a part of the Contract documents as though it had been issued with the original Documents as issued and written therein, in Division and Section. The bidder shall note receipt and make acknowledgment of this Addendum on his bid form, incorporating its provisions in his bid.

1) General Information from Prebid:

a) See attached Prebid attendance sheet.

b) Security clearances will be required for contractor personnel. Contractor shall note that escorts will be required in some areas (primarily spaces with fan coils).

c) Demolition of mini-split fan coils within the COMSEC and Vault rooms will be performed by the Owner (Basement – Sheet MD3.0).

d) Refrigerant for all three VRF systems has been evacuated and recovered by the Owner.

e) Existing pipe hangers may be reused if size and spacing is appropriate for the new chilled water piping. Note that new chilled water piping does not follow refrigerant piping route in most cases.

f) Fan coil locations within rooms are diagrammatic only and Contractor is expected to work around or relocate existing MEP as required to install fan coils. It is the Owner’s desire for the Contractor to mount the fan coils as high as possible in the space to allow gravity drainage of condensate. If gravity drainage is deemed not possible, Contractor shall provide tank style condensate pump (Little Giant VCMA-20, or equivalent) as necessary for installation.

g) Contractor will be required to work around live data racks that must be left in operation at all times.

2) Specifications Revisions: None

3) Drawing Revisions:

a) Sheet M5.0, Mechanical/Electrical Schedules

i) Fan Coil Unit Schedule:

(1) Change Mechanical Note 3 to “3. Contractor to mount fan coils as high as possible in the space to allow gravity drainage of condensate. If gravity drainage is deemed not possible, Contractor shall provide tank style condensate pump (Little Giant VCMA-

20, or equivalent) as necessary for installation. Condensate pump to be powered from fan coil disconnect.”

4) Prior Approvals. Subject to project requirements, the following manufacturers are allowed for bidding purposes:

a) Section 238219 Fan Coil Units Carrier Corp.

b) Basis of Design/Schedule Diff/Reg/Grilles Nailor
