About this file
This is an Addendum #001 to a construction solicitation issued by the State of Utah Division of Facilities Construction and Management (DFCM) for the Southwest Technical College Kanab Shop Mechanical Upgrade project (#26066270). The project involves removing two existing evaporative cooling units and replacing them with two new packaged, ground-mounted rooftop units, along with providing a new exhaust system to bring the shop into compliance with current code. The addendum, dated October 2, 2025, modifies the original bidding documents issued on August 8, 2025, and is mandatory for all prequalified mechanical contractors to acknowledge upon bid submission. Key clarifications addressed in the addendum include specifications for salvaging existing radiant heaters, coordinating fire alarm tie-ins with Mountain Alarm, providing a new propane kit for the air handlers, patching wall penetrations and roofing openings using DFCM-approved contractors, removing and capping existing radiant heater vents, and confirming ground placement of RTUs rather than roof placement.
The addendum further clarifies that rooftop unit orientation may be reconfigured by contractor request through Request for Information (RFI) without added cost or change orders, and that ductwork may be run on the exterior of the building with appropriate insulation as an alternative to the original plan. The existing facility utilizes propane gas service and is equipped with a Mountain Alarm fire alarm system (FACP) to which new equipment must coordinate. A significant specification change eliminates the requirement for building management system controls (spec section 230900), replacing it with local thermostat and sensor-only control due to the facility's lack of an existing building management system. The construction cost estimate for the project is $114,956.00, with bidding limited to contractors prequalified under DFCM Stage I Prequalification as of the solicitation date.
