Questions?
Questions / Answers
Is there any badging/training required to be onsite?
Answer: A drivers license is required, PCD is limiting this contract to US citizens. Argonne will provide escort for the contractors while onsite. PCD does not require any training.
Will there be a site visit for this opportunity? Or, can we schedule a site visit?
Answer: Unfortunately, due to depot closures and the timing of the submittal it is not feasible to organize a site visit. This week the depot will be closed on Thursday for Veterans Day and is normally closed Friday – Sunday.
What is the length of the tower sections?
Answer: All towers were built with 10ft Rohn 55G sections. A base section or plate was embedded in concrete.
What is the size of the concrete?
Answer: The bases of the 100ft towers are 3’x3’, the depth is unknown. The guy anchors are estimated at 3’x3’x3’ and are a few feet below grade. The base of the 30ft towers are 6’x’6, it is unknown if this is just a wider pad on the base or if this size goes the depth of the embedded base. Photos of these and misc. concrete to be removed are shown in later slides.
Water Tower questions?
Answer: The water tower appears to be in good condition and well maintained. It has a ladder with a safety climb and an anti-climb section near the ground. The tower is in the chemical block, but now that chemicals have been destroyed the security is reduced. The gate to the chemical block is open during normal work hours. The camera is planned to be re-used, with an estimated value of $250k. Two cameras weighting about 50lb each are bolted together. The mount may weigh an additional estimated 100lb.
The conduit and electrical wires for the camera can be left in place.
Additional photos in later slides.
