About this file

This document is a comprehensive set of construction specifications (Volume I) for the SCI Renovation and Residence Addition project at the Hampton VA Medical Center in Hampton, Virginia. The project is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) set-aside competitive solicitation with a construction magnitude between $10-20 million, covering approximately 32,762 square feet of renovation on the first floor of Building 137.

The specifications include detailed technical requirements across multiple divisions, covering everything from demolition and structural work to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems. A survey conducted prior to construction identified asbestos-containing materials, lead-based paint, and moisture-impacted areas that will require specialized removal and remediation. The project involves comprehensive renovations including infrastructure updates, potential hazardous material abatement, and infrastructure improvements to support medical facility operations. The specifications provide extensive technical guidance for contractors, including specific requirements for materials, installation methods, safety protocols, and quality control standards across architectural, structural, and building systems.
