About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document providing clarification on a nurse call system solicitation for the Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Integrated Service Network 23, issued under solicitation number 36C26326Q0435. The document addresses vendor inquiries regarding scope, design specifications, integration requirements, infrastructure, installation, and equipment quantities for a Rauland Responder 5 nurse call system or approved equivalent.
The solicitation requires installation of a nurse call system with specific hardware and field devices, including 15 regional controllers, 410 corridor lights, 175 enhanced patient stations, and 250 staff assist/code stations, among other components totaling multiple equipment categories across head-end equipment, field devices, installation materials, and spare equipment. Critical requirements include full integration with the existing Vocera communications system and EHR/ADT systems, compatibility with the current VA network, and battery-backed power or dedicated UPS systems provided by the contractor. The system must be installed in phases to maintain continuous hospital operations with no downtime except for approved switchovers, with some night and weekend work potentially required. Contractors are responsible for power connections, staging area logistics (with a maximum two-day onsite storage limitation), and ensuring the entire system is fully operational by the end of the performance period. A site visit was scheduled for April 21, 2026, and vendors could submit additional questions through April 24, 2026 at 17:00 Mountain Standard Time, with responses issued via formal amendment or Q&A posting.
