SPEC QUESTION ANSWER

1 Specification Section 09 67 23.20

This is a high-build system, but the room finish schedule says most of the floor finishes are “epoxy paint”. The spec is not epoxy paint!

REF: Specification Section 09 67 23.20 for Floor Paint, Resinous Epoxy Base.

2 Not Applicable

What is the blast weight and the standoff distance required for the storefront glass on the plan south side of the building?

The specification assumes that the storefronts and aluminum windows are to be blast resistant per the PSDM (Physical Security Design Manual), however, the Fargo VA requested and was given approval of a waiver dated July 25, 2016 that requested that the “PSDM addresses ‘equipment replacement’ projects in that only those physical security requirements pertaining to the specific systems are applicable, in this particular project, specific to the boiler equipment.” Therefore, it is our understanding that replacement glazing and storefront/alum systems indicated in the drawings do not need to be blast resistant.

3 Not Applicable

Who is the Controls contractor for the VA Campus? Can you give contact information?

There is more than one controls contractor at the Fargo VA.

DDC – Direct Digital Control Contact: Logan Biffert Address: 15 21st Street S., Suite 202, Fargo, ND 58103 Phone: (701) 232-1757

G&R Controls Address: 5425 51st Ave S, Fargo, ND 58104 Phone: (701) 237-3763

4 Specification 01 00 00, General Requirements

Is it possible to conduct an unmanned site visit for estimating personnel that could not make the first one?

No. See specification 01 00 00 General Requirements paragraph 1.2.B regarding site visits.

5 Not Applicable Do you know the project timeline is for this one? Looks like it is 660 calendar days from

NTP is anticipated to be issued so that work can begin October 2019. 660 Calendar Days would set the completion date at July

SPEC QUESTION ANSWER

notice to proceed (NTP). Would the NTP be issued this Summer, Fall, Winter?

2021. It was anticipated that this would allow for time to have submittals approved, materials on site, temporary boilers (all required permitting, etc. on site and ready for connection to the steam distribution system by June 2020 with work to install and test new boilers and supporting equipment, permits, etc. from June 2020 to June 2021.

6 Drawing E1 Light Fixture types B1 and V1 are shown on the lighting plans but are not shown on the Luminaire Schedule. Please add them to the lighting schedule.

Revise all instances of Type B1 fixtures on the floorplans to Type A2, see luminaire schedule for requirements. Type V1 is shown on the Luminaire Schedule, between the U1 and the W1.

7 Not Applicable We noticed that their a 3D model of the boiler room on the site plans. Is it possible to get the 3D Drawing in CAD REVIT or whatever form it is in? No – REVIT model is not part of the contract documents.

8 The plans reference roofing the new penetrations into the existing roof and also talk about removing the entire membrane and top layer of insulation then installing new insulation and membrane. The specs seem to describe the later, but also specify installing the new insulation in adhesive over the existing insulation. The manufacturers will not warrant new roofs installed over the existing insulation with adhesive. They will warrant it if we install with fasteners through the insulation to the steel deck if in fact it is a steel deck. If it is a concrete deck, we will need to remove the existing insulation to the deck as well. Please Advise.

Remove all roof insulation and install new roofing system from the roof deck up.
