Question and Answers
Q1. Addendum #7 says “Provide 208V, 60A/3P breaker to match manufacturer in existing bucket. Talking to the supplier this doesn’t appear to be possible. Would it be acceptable to bypass the controls in the existing bucket and fuse the circuit at 60A?
A1: The proposed solution for item 1 is acceptable. The Electrical Contractor can provide a 60A/3P fused disconnect in lieu of the 60A/3P breaker.
Q2.The MC is supplying a new SF-1 motor according to addendum #4. Can they supply the VFD for this motor since they will know the exact requirement of the VFD?
A2: Yes, it does not matter who supplies the VFD as long as it meets requirements in the Electrical Division of the Specifications and is provided by the GC or any of its subcontractors/suppliers.
Clarification: MC to me means “Mechanical Contractor.” There’s a possibility they meant “Medical Center”, which is entirely incorrect that the Medical Center would be supplying the new SF-1 motor.
