Question and Answer

1Q: It has been brought to our attention that the existing VA MCC-106 was only manufactured for a few months in the late 90’s, and extra parts are not available. Our electrical suppliers are trying to work with GE on a solution for the required starter bucket. If parts are unavailable and GE will not manufacture the starter bucket, how will the VA like the contractors to proceed? It is our understanding that this MCC was supposed to be replaced in a past project but was removed because of funding. We believe that there is enough room in the 500K – 1Mil budget to replace the MCC in this project. Please provide guidance as to how the contractors are to proceed.

1A: Please have the EC’s tap the bus of MCC-106 with [(3#300 & 1#2G)3”C] and extend to a new wall mounted NEMA 5, 208V, 3-Phase, 400A fusible disconnect Switch Combination Starter with 300A FRN-R fuses, mounted on East wall of Penthouse. EC shall also provide[(3#300 & 1#2G)3”C] from the new disconnect/starter to the new control panel for CU-2.
