1. Please clarify the scope in the bathroom, normally walls are to be washable up to 4’ in any commercial bathroom (drywall usually not allowed). Note 03 states after demo to only patch and match exiting finish level (assumed to be drywall based on this note). We would recommend leaving the tile or specifying a different material for the wainscot other than drywall. Then if you leave the tile for the walls, might make sense to consider leaving the tile floor depending on the user’s needs.

Concur, VA to issue Addendum 01. Revised drawings are to show only new paint finishes in Patient RR 363C.

2. In the SOW, you state Level IV, Category 4, Type C, please also provide a sample of the ICRA permit form to make sure we are all following VA guidelines.

Concur, see attachment to RFI 01 response.

3. Paragraph 6 in the SOW references conforming to VA design manuals, please clarify if the intent of this project is to be a design build. Typically for the contractor to ensure design manuals are incorporated correctly on the project they would have to hire an A&E firm (based on insurance requirements). It appears the designs are well put together and the appropriate specifications are included, we do not see a need for the GC to carry an A&E unless this is the VA’s intent. We ask for clarification as this is an unusual burden to put on GC and subcontractors and additional cost may not be needed for the project.

Conforming is the correct adjective. VA interpretation is that the GC is expected to understand and meet the guidelines and policies to perform the work required. This is not a design build project.

4. To build a hard wall anti room barrier for the entrance it will interfere with “Endo. Office” 364 (preventing access) and at a minimum tighten the opening to Endo Vitals 361C area. Will this be acceptable? If not acceptable, please recommend a solution the VA would deem acceptable and still meet the ICRA categories.

Concur, this is to be addressed in Addendum 01.
