Replace Heat Pumps in CBS with Fan Coils Questions

1. Please confirm the prime contractor’s superintendent must be present onsite at all times while work is being performed. Yes, the prime contractor superintendent must be present during all on site work.

1. Please confirm the prime contractor’s superintendent must be an employee of the prime contractor. We have accepted subcontractor personnel as superintendent when the general contractor provides us in writing that the subcontractor superintendent has the power to act on behalf of the general contractor.

1. Please confirm the prime contractor’s superintendent may also serve as the SSHO. Yes, this is confirmed.

1. Regarding specification 23 09 23 paragraph 2.7 NETWORK AND DEVICE NAMING CONVENTION: This seems to indicate the site needs to have all network numbers, device instances & device names to be altered from our current format for the BAS and the control drawings. This would add a lot of labor. Can you confirm this is the intent? The existing naming format used by the rest of the campus is acceptable and preferred.

1. Solicitation page 7 reads “Locations where construction will block access to occupied spaces and main restrooms shall be completed after normal working hours. This applies to at least 50% of the locations…” This language is still too vague to price which exact areas will require after-hours work, as bidders cannot determine which areas are occupied from the documents. Please list the location numbers which will require after-hours work.

Location 1: Requires after hours work when installing piping in the lobby if access to the elevator or exit will be blocked.

Location 2: Requires after hours work when installing piping in corridor if corridor will be blocked.

Location 3: Requires after hours work when hallway and double doors to office will be blocked.

Location 4: Does not require after hours work.

Location 5: Does not require after hours work.

Location 6: Requires after hours work since new FCU and EF demo are located above occupied offices.

Location 7: Requires after hours work if adjacent hallway will be blocked.

Location 8: Does not require after hours work.

Location 9: Requires after hours work since access to main bathrooms will be blocked.

Location 10: Requires after hours work when loud noises will be made. This includes cutting, drilling, etc.

Location 11: Requires after hours work since access to main bathrooms will be blocked.
