About this file
This document is a Facility Requirements specification for STERIS's Mobile Endoscope Reprocessing Unit deployment.
The facility must provide a 75' L x 30' W x 15' H landing and service clearance area for the Mobile Endoscope Reprocessing Unit and a 51' L x 20' W x 15' H area for the Support Unit, located within 120' for air line connection. The facility is responsible for permitting, compliance with local regulations, protecting all external lines, and constructing a connecting corridor or structure for instrument transport—which can only be built after the mobile unit arrives on site to avoid substantial costs and delays. The facility must supply up to five 5' x 10' x 1" or six 4' x 8' x 1" steel road plates based on site conditions and provide anchor hardware to secure the units using supplied straps at tie down rings rated for 9,200 lb capacity.
Electrical service requires 480 VAC, 3-phase, 60 Hz power with disconnects within 30' of the unit front. The Mobile Endoscope Reprocessing Unit draws 350 AMP MOP (262 AMP FLA) through two 40' shoreline cables with Meltric DR250 connectors; the Support Unit draws 100 AMP MOP (52 AMP FLA) through one 40' shoreline cable with Meltric DR100 connectors. Facility-provided utilities include cold water (1½" FNPT connection, 50-80 psi, 40-70°F, 700 GPH average), wastewater (4" connection, 700 GPH average, less than 140°F discharge), HVAC condensate drain, and wet-system fire sprinkler supply (2" Victaulic coupling, 143 GPM at 46 psi minimum residual pressure). Water quality specifications are detailed for temperature, pressure, hardness, dissolved solids, alkalinity, pH, conductivity, and trace metals. In climates with consistent heat index exceeding 100°F, an ancillary cooling package requiring an additional 30 AMP breaker is mandatory. Fire alarm systems must be conventional analog with 2 zones, supervisory tamper switches, and water flow switches, exporting conditions to three dry contacts. Telephone and data connections require the facility to supply a managed switch if needed; STERIS provides the patch panel but not IT peripherals.

General
• Permitting and compliance with applicable local and facility-specific regulations is the responsibility of the facility.
• All external lines (incl. water, drain, and air) must be facility protected.
Service Clearance
• The Mobile Endoscope Reprocessing Unit requires 75’ L x 30’ W x 15’ H area for landing and service clearance.
• The Support Unit requires 51’ L x 20’ W x 15’ H area for landing and service clearance and must be located within 120’ of the mobile unit for air line connection.
Access
• Facility to provide a connecting corridor or structure for transport of instruments into and out of the Mobile Endo-scope Reprocessing Unit. IMPORTANT: This structure can only be built once the mobile unit arrives on site. Substantial costs and project delays will result if the structure is built prior to mobile unit arrival and placement.
• Entry and Exit doors are located on the driver side of the mobile unit and the Emergency Exit door is located at the rear of the passenger side expandable section.
Road Plates:
• Based on individual site conditions, facility to supply up to
(5) 5’ x 10’ x 1” or (6) 4’ x 8’ x 1” steel road plates.
Unit Anchoring / Tie Downs
• The Mobile Endoscope Reprocessing Unit has 2 tie down rings at each corner and 4 additional per side (16 total).
• Anchor points are rated at 9,200 lb capacity (6,500 lb horizontal/vertical capacity) and should be placed with the anchor strap forming a 45° angle to the ground.
• At minimum, corners must be secured - final tie down configuration is field specific. STERIS will provide straps needed to secure the mobile unit at each corner. Anchor hardware is to be provided by the facility.
• The Support Unit has 3 tie rings on each side to be used as needed.
Mobile Endoscope Reprocessing Unit: Facility Requirements
