Additional RFI’S (Amendment 8)

1. Please advise if the designated SSHO and Competent Person role can be fulfilled by the site superintendent.

No, the SSHO and Competent Person role cannot be fulfilled by the site superintendent.

2. Will the SSHO be full time separate person?

Yes, the SSHO must be a full-time separate person.

3. Please provide a Geotech Soils report that pertains to the area of construction.

This is already answered.

4. Please indicate staging area or laydown and material storage locations.

Staging and material storage locations are the responsibilities of the contractor. At Poplar Bluff we have very limited space and are willing to work with contractors when able. We cannot guarantee that a staging or material storage location is available.

5. Drawing 1-HA-000 1st hatching key black square show asbestos pipe insulation and or mudded fittings. Floor plan shows a dark line throughout basement is this the asbestos pipe insulation noted and are we to remove this pipe insulation throughout the basement?

The black line represents approximate locations of main asbestos tar and cork insulation with asbestos mudded fittings on pipe, some of which is in damaged condition and laterals are not shown. Remove this insulation system, beginning with damaged areas, within the identified zone of the new EPDM enclosure and related isolation wall in the approximate amounts shown by keynotes.

6. Drawing 1-HA-G00 note below room 07, asbestos brown tan adhesive on drywall system over historic ceramic block or plaster walls throughout corridors. What is the scope of work for the corridors on the ground floor?

This asbestos material is noted as shown for informational purposes and is to be avoided and protected during project work. This material is not scheduled for abatement and can be avoided during selection of system routing and related work.

7. Specifications 028211, 028213.13, 028213.19, 028213.21, 028213.31 and 028333.13 all have abatement quantities listed, are these the quantities we are to base our bid on?

Yes

8. Page 7 of 69 statement of work mentions liquidated damages. Is this correct, that liquidated damages are part of this project?

Yes

9. Will we have access for a crane on the perimeter road on the northeastern end facing the project site? If not, please indicate possible crane locations.

Yes, but this will need to be coordinated with the project COR.

10. Can the crane be kept on site in place or do we have to remove it every day off site?

This depends on the application and placement, coordination with the COR must be done.

11. Please verify that there are no alternates only one base bid price.

Correct

12. Is there a specific manufacturer for the security doors and frames?

Must be compliant with the Physical Security Design Guide.

13. Drawings are labeled as 1/8” but scaling is showing 1/16”, please verify scale on drawings.

On HA drawings the correct scaling is 1/16” = 1’ real.

14. Drawings 01-HA-100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 all have a visual key hatching, asbestos pipe insulation and or mudded fittings called out. This hatching is the majority of all rooms but are not called out in the specs or key notes as scope of work. Will there be asbestos pipe insulation and or mudded fittings abatement in all rooms in the hospital per diagonal hatching or only the scope called out in the specifications?

In general, horizontal pipes with asbestos pipe insulation and/or mudded fittings is depicted by hatching on HA drawing series. Specific keynotes and the specifications call out locations for abatement.
